Vehicle Wraps – Graphic Design Elements Message

Before setting vehicle graphic design hierarchy in order, your organization must consider what messages take precedence, what is the hierarchy of your messages? What do you want to communicate and what do you want people to understand about your business. Consider the following and create a hierarchy from this list.

  • Logo
  • Branding
  • Products and Services
  • Tag Lines and Message
  • Contact Information

Vehicle Wraps – Graphic Design Elements

The critical elements of graphic design are also the key elements of vehicle graphic design hierarchy. The difference again is that the elements are even more important on a moving vehicle. While a stationary design such as a sign might be able to get away with design elements that don’t stand out, a vehicle wrap can’t. It needs strong and clear design elements to be effective.

  • Size
  • Color
  • Contrast
  • Whitespace
  • Placement

Other elements to consider in the designs for Vehicle Wraps – Graphic Design Elements:

Focal point: What point on the vehicle captures the most attention?

Balance: It’s easy to go overboard and design one element that overpowers all the others and vice versa. The design needs to be balanced and pleasing to the eye.

Rule of thirds: The rule of thirds is used in photography as well as video creation. The rule of thirds is dividing a screen into thirds and then placing the primary element in one-third of the graph. This method draws the human eye into the composition rather than glancing at the entire graphic.

When you purchase a vehicle wrap you want to maximize the return on your investment. Your vehicle wrap will be seen by thousands upon thousands throughout it’s lifetime. This is endless advertising after your wrap is installed, which is awesome for your business. However, taking care of your vehicle wrap is a huge part of maximizing your ROI. After all, this is your company brand that is plastered all over your vehicle. This needs a fresh clean look, which can extend the life of these wraps.

It’s amazing to see how many vehicle wraps on the road that are not being taken care of. It is very simple to maintain these wraps, although many people tend to put this on the back burner. Did you know that if properly taken care of, your vehicle wrap can last a solid 5 to 7 years? That is a long time for your vehicle to look fresh, even paint tends to fade before this.

We wrap everything from cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, trailers, semis and boats, but in the end they all need the same proper care to maintain their look. It is very important to clean them and preserve your wraps for years to come.

7 Easy Tips to Protect Your Vehicle Wraps

Here are a few tips to keep your vehicle wrap maintained

  1. Keep your wrapped vehicle clean, wash it once a week or more if it is exposed
  2. Try to park under a shaded area if the vehicle will be exposed for a long period of time.
  3. If you can keep this vehicle in a garage when it rains, sleets and or in extreme cold.
  4. Clean bird droppings, dirt, and difficult stains quickly. Letting them sit may cause damage to wrap and difficulty to remove after a long period of time passes.
  5. Do not pressure wash
  6. Hand washing is best, however if you do bring it through a car wash, only go to an automated brushless car wash. We suggest hand washing because it is safer and more thorough.
  7. Wipe off oil and fuel spills as quickly by hand washing the area as best you can

Think of the big investment you’ve made in your vehicle wrap and how important this is to display your brand. Your business receives endless advertising through this wrap, therefore it is important to make it look great and for a long period of time. If you have any questions on how to maintain your vehicle wrap, we would be glad to help. Feel free to give The Decal Source a call – we always look forward to hearing from you.

Why Banners Are Successful For Companies

January 22, 2018 - Posted by The Decal Source

Banners are one of the most inexpensive signage options, and for that reason, they are a hit with most business owners. However, the low price tag is only one benefit of many more. If you ever need to make a good impression, quickly and with style, banners are an effective solution you need to consider.

Banner

Five Remarkable Benefits of Banners:

  1. They are visually attractive – Banners are a great way to display your marketing message with so many options to add unlimited text, logos, graphics and even photographs for overall great look. Whether you are a fan of the popular high gloss finish or you prefer the more conservative, smooth matte finish, your full-color images will stand out on vinyl! Many businesses use full-color vinyl banners consistently to display their brand because banners do a great job at attracting customers’ attention!
  2. They’re customizable – You can make them in virtually any size – small enough for an indoor “welcome home” display or large enough for the “finish line” of an outdoor sporting event. They can be easily cut to size, and just as easily cut to shape. Rectangles and squares are the most popular, but they can also be cut into circles or ovals. You have a special shape in mind? No problem! They can be custom cut, as well – perfect for school mascots and company logos! Make them single or double-sided…customize as much as you’d like!
  3. They are super versatile! – Vinyl banners can be hung practically anywhere! Order them with holes and grommets and hang them outdoors on fencing, or indoors from walls or ceilings. Prefer them to stand alone? Order them without holes and erect them using banner stands or rails. A free-standing, full-color vertical banner would look great in the corner of a reception area, or sitting atop a vendor table at a trade show! Schools, businesses, churches, restaurants – they’re a hit in virtually any environment!
  4. They are durable, temporary signage – They are highly tolerant of environmental conditions, like high winds, bitter cold, and even hot weather extremes. They could last for several seasons outdoors. Heavy-duty outdoor banners are quite useful for grand openings, community fundraisers, festivals, art shows, sporting events, and more. The lighter weight, smooth finish banners work well for indoor birthday parties and celebrations, company product launches and restaurant specials.
  5. They are lightweight and portable – You can move vinyl banners from one space to another at any time for a different look and feel. They are ideal for traveling sports teams or vendor displays at various conferences. Or, if seasonal, take them down and store them for later use.

Installing Aircraft Decals or Wraps Requires Special Training and Certifications

Just not anybody can print or install decals on planes or helicopters.  It requires a specialized training and certification from the material manufactures.  3M, a major player in the vinyl graphics sector, has two exterior aircraft graphic films. A7322 for short term use and A7706 for medium term use.  Both materials require a special printing & finishing process to meet the manufacture specifications. 3M must verify you meet the specification before they will even sell you the material.  Once the material is installed it must be edge sealed with 3M Edge Sealer 3950.  The film must be edge sealed to protect it from serious in-flight abrasion such as a jet going 500+ MPH.

Our installation crew is 3M certified and meets all the requirements to properly install aircraft graphics and decals.  Call on TDS when you need aviation specific decals or wraps.  If its just FAA registration ID numbers or full corporate identity and branding, The Decal Source has you covered. Contact us for more information.

PTI is Booming with Aviation

PTI is quickly becoming an aviation hot spot with Honda Jet delivering its first plane this month and Haeco, an aircraft engineering and maintenance company, creating many new jobs.  Its not uncommon to see large military C-17’s or Air Force One doing touch and goes.  Among large multinational companies, there are also small local businesses getting in on the action.  Perfect Aircraft, an airplane detailing and reconditioning company, is one of the new startups adding to PTI’s growth.

Life in the Fast Lane: Chris Rice on Short Tracks and Vehicle Wraps

April 9, 2015 - Posted by The Decal Source

The Decal Source client Chris Rice has been drawn to the world of motorsports since childhood. By the age of 10, he has his sleeves rolled up, helping his father and his uncle build late-model stock cars. Knowing that the industry would always have his attention, he sought a career in racing while in high school, quickly landing his first job as a mechanic for Jeff Burton’s stock team. His teenage and young adult years were spent at the track, learning the ins and outs of NASCAR and honing the skills he’d need to be a leader in this fast-paced industry.

You could say the rest is history.

Today, as Competition Director for NTS Motorsports, and Crew Chief of the No. 31 Chevrolet for NTS Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Rice knows a thing or two about developing talented drivers and fielding cars in a variety of racing series.

As a long-time client of The Decal Source, we asked him a few questions about what it takes to make his job happen.

What does a Competition Director’s job entail?

As the Competition Director for NTS Motorsports, I am responsible for the nuts and bolts – literally and figuratively. Everything that has to come together to get both the cars and drivers ready for race day, I oversee. I’m not limited to one area of racing. I get to be involved with the full picture, which makes it even more rewarding when we score a win.

What have you learned about vehicle graphics and wraps?

Wraps and graphics are so important because they are seen by millions of fans. The quality not only reflects the corporate sponsors, but our organization as well. It’s no small task to ensure each vehicle looks great and performs well for every event, but that’s why it’s so important to have a graphics partner we can count on.

Why do you count on The Decal Source?

I’ve been working with TDS since 2002, and could not imagine choosing another graphics provider for the NTS Motorsports vehicles. For us, it boils down to two things: quality and service. There’s a science to applying a vehicle wrap for NASCAR. The graphics have to stand out aesthetically and withstand a fair amount of wear and tear. The guys at TDS not only do a great job, but they provide an above and beyond level of service. We’ve called them with rush needs before a big event, and they are in our shop that same week working on the vehicle. They truly make it happen.

TDS provides vehicle wraps and graphics to more than half of all NASCAR teams, as well as clients in other racing series.
