Vehicle Graphics for an American Icon

Kentucky Fried Chicken is one of the most recognizable brands in America. Founded in 1952, they successfully changed an industry by bringing chicken into the hamburger world. Today, KFC’s brand remains largely unchanged; their commitment to consistency undoubtedly contributing to their continued success. Just last month, TDS had the unique privilege of applying the tried-and-true KFC brand to a NASCAR in preparation for the race at Kentucky Speedway on July 11, 2015.

In the video, two members of the TDS team wrap the #35 KFC Ford. Driven by Cole Whitt in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400, this car was seen by upwards of 100,000 excited fans. NASCAR and other racing series projects have been some of our favorite vehicle wraps to date. As mentioned in the clip, they’ve taught us a thing or two about doing things “the hard way.”

Vehicle Graphics Installation – The Hard Way

A lot goes into a quality race car wrap. First, there’s the design – bringing the concept to life in a way that will flow seamlessly across the vehicle. Next, there’s production – selecting high-quality 3M materials and printing on large-format machines. Then comes what we consider the “rubber meets the road” moment: installation. Graphic installation can absolutely make or break a vehicle wrap. It requires a level of precision that is only developed through training, experience, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Doing things the hard way, whether for a business, an individual, or a world-class NASCAR team, is what TDS considers the only way.

Hard Way Specifics

If you’re considering a vehicle wrap project, there are a few questions you can ask your graphics provider to find out if their installation techniques are up to par.

  • Certification – Your installer’s credentials matter. Are they certified by 3M, PDAA, or another reputable organization?
  • Climate – Applying graphics in a hot or cold environment can hinder quality. Does your company have a climate-controlled installation facility?
  • Warranty – TDS offers a five-year warranty on every 3M vehicle wrap. Does your company guarantee its work?
  • Track Record – Look for a portfolio of previous work. A good mix of clients and a variety of vehicle wraps confirms the skill you’re looking for.

Providing race car graphics and handling 75-year-old brands like KFC requires an uncommon level of precision. Our “hard way” approach may require more training for our people and a little extra time, but the end result is always a bold-looking, long-lasting vehicle wrap that turns heads. We think that’s well worth it.
